With just 2 weeks to go before the European CrossFit community will get to experience the first ever Semifinals weekend we believe it is due time to highlight the importance of this brand new competition format and The Progrm athletes who have qualified for it.
But first let’s answer the question:
What are CrossFit Semifinals?
Semifinals are qualifying events for the CrossFit Games. In order to access and therefore participate in these events you must place above a certain percentage in your continent through the online qualifying stage called Quarterfinals.
Depending on the continent a set number of Semifinal events are established as well as a set number of qualifying athletes for each event.
When it comes to the European continent two main events have been selected to give the opportunity to the top 5 athletes in each Semifinal to earn their ticket to the CrossFit Games.
Additionally the athletes placing between 6th and 8th will be able to access the Last Chance Qualifiers for a last shot at making it to the Games.
The events selected for Europe are two popular competitions that are both well renowned and well established upon the European CrossFit community: the German Throwdown and the Lowlands Throwdown.
What we know so far.
Event details have not been released yet. All we know so far are the number of tickets to the Games out for grabs.
