What is the Elite 15 in HYROX?

The Elite 15 in HYROX is not just a division; it’s a symbol of excellence and the pinnacle of competition. It’s an exclusive club that showcases the top 15 male and female athletes from around the globe who have proven themselves through outstanding performances in qualification events such as Regional Majors and the Last Chance Qualifier.

These elite competitors battle head-to-head in races culminating in the HYROX World Championships. To be part of this group is to be among the best, to race and perform at the highest levels.

2023/2024 HYROX Men’s champions

Regarding HYROX, some names stand out for their unparalleled performance and consistency. But the athlete, Hunter McIntyre who is the current HYROX record holder with a time of 53.22 set in Stockholm in 2023, is by far the best known male athlete in the sport.

Alexander Roncevic

Known for his exceptional performance at the 2024 Hyrox World Championships in Lyon, Alexander Roncevic finished first with a remarkable time of 56:21. His consistency and strength across all workout stations secured his spot as the top male athlete.

Michael Sandbach

A strong competitor from the United Kingdom, Michael Sandbach claimed second place in Lyon with a finish time of 56:32. His strategic racing and perseverance kept him in the lead pack.

James Kelly

2023/2024 HYROX Women’s champions

The women’s division of HYROX has seen remarkable growth thanks to trailblazers like Megan Jacoby and Lauren Weeks. These women break records and are inspiring other female athletes.

Megan Jacoby

Making history as the first woman to complete a Hyrox race in under an hour, Megan Jacoby dominated the women’s competition in Lyon with a time of 59:59. Her incredible performance cements her status as one of the greatest female athletes in the sport.

How do the athletes qualify for the Majors?

Understanding the Majors

The Majors represent four regional events where athletes can qualify for the World Championships.

Each Major features Male and Female Elite 15 races, offering early qualification opportunities.

Athletes earn their spot through auto qualification from previous performances in championship events or based on time rankings.

Each Major holds a total prize purse of $60,000 each ($30,000 Male and $30,000 female). All four majors will be Grid-Format races and will be live-streamed. Put the dates in your calendar!

Amsterdam, Netherlands – October 10th 2024
Hong Kong – November 22nd 2024
Las Vegas, USA – January 31st 2025
Glasgow, Scotland – March 12th 2025

Auto Qualification via 23/24 Season Elite 15 results

All 2023/24 Major winners from Chicago, Stockholm, Vienna, and Washington DC have automatically qualified for 2024/2025. The 1st, 2nd, 3rd from the World Championships also auto-qualify. The major winner from 2023/24 is included in the top 3.

Time qualification

The remaining slots for the Majors are awarded to individuals based on the average of their two best individual Pro times of the past 365 days until 15 participants have been obtained.

Times achieved in significant races and pro races are included to calculate the average time.

The ranking can be found on the HYROX website.

What is the HYROX Last Chance Qualifier?

The Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ) is an open-entry event that provides the final opportunity for athletes to claim one of the remaining three spots for the World Championships.

Once 12 World Championship qualification slots have been assigned via placings in the Major races, the three remaining ones will be competed for at the LCQ.

This regular format race is open to anyone who signs up for the Pro Category division at the race.

If an athlete drops out or can’t attend the Elite 15 Race at Worlds, roll-downs will apply to the next LCQ athlete in line (4th, then 5th position).

It will be held in Barcelona, Spain on 26th-27th April 2025.

HYROX World Championships will be in Chicago, USA – June 12-15th, 2025.

As the season’s pinnacle, this event is reserved for the elite competitors who qualify through the Majors or the LCQ.
