2025 CrossFit Open

The CrossFit Open is back, and it's time to test your fitness against the best in the world.
The 2025 Open will be a three-week competition that will begin on February 27th and will run until March 17th. Workouts are announced every week on Thursday, and you have until Monday night to complete the WOD and register for it online.
No matter what fitness level you have, you can take part in The Open, and you can choose from RX, Scaled, and Foundation versions of the weekly workouts. We are all in it together, at least at the start, as any athlete who hopes to get to the CrossFit Games in Albany, New York, in 2025 has to start with the Open.

Registration: From January 15th

25.1 : 27 February – 3 March
25.2 : 6 – 10 March
25.3 : 13 – 17 March
2025 CrossFit Open Workouts
The 2025 Open will feature three workouts, each released weekly on Thursdays at 12 .00 (PT) (21.00 CET), and scores are due by Monday at 17.00 (PT) (Tuesday 02.00 CET).
The workouts will test various fitness attributes, including strength, endurance, and gymnastics.
2025 CrossFit Open Equipment List
In 2024, CrossFit did not release a specific equipment list for the Open. Competition Director Adrian Bozman confirmed this change, emphasizing a commitment to using standard, widely accessible equipment. Despite the absence of an official list, the workouts utilized common equipment found in most CrossFit gyms. For example, Open Workout 24.1 required a single dumbbell.
This approach aimed to make the Open more inclusive and accessible to a broader range of participants. The following equipment was required for the 2023 Open, but currently, there has not been an equipment list released for 2025.
- Barbell (35 lb or 45 lb)
- Standard bumper plates, change plates, and collars
- Dumbbells (20 lb to 70 lb)
- Kettlebells (16 kg, 24 kg, or 32 kg)
- Medicine balls (10 lb, 14 lb, or 20 lb)
- Plyometric boxes (20 in, 24 in, or 30 in)
- Gymnastics rings
- Jump ropes
- Concept2 rower
- Pull-up bar
- Wall space
- Clear floor space (25 ft)
- Climbing ropes (optional)
- GHD (optional)
How to Participate in the Open
Age Requirement: Participants must be at least 14 years old.
Registration: Sign up through the official CrossFit Open page.
Workout Variations: The Open offers RX, Scaled, and Foundations versions of each workout, accommodating various fitness levels.

The 2025 season has introduced significant changes:
- Elimination of Quarterfinals: Athletes progress directly from the Open to the Semifinals.
- Semifinals Format: Semifinals are conducted in two formats:
- In-Affiliate Semifinals: An online competition held within individual CrossFit affiliates.
- In-Person Qualifying Events (IPQEs): Select live events hosted by partnered organizers.
- Advancement Criteria:
- Individuals: The top 1% of individual athletes worldwide in the Open qualify for the In-Affiliate Semifinals.
- Age-Group Athletes: The top 2% of each age-group division advance to the Age-Group Semifinals.
- Teams: Teams meeting Open participation requirements advance to the In-Affiliate Semifinals.
